The Olympics Service was developed in 2008 to proactively engage with partners and residents to deliver opportunities offered by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to Islington.

The work focus of the unit is based on the Islington 2012 Vision and associated action plan which states: “We will use the opportunity of the London Olympics and Paralympics in 2012 to inspire and raise the aspirations of people living in Islington, particularly young people, disabled people and those in the most deprived communities.

The service strives to develop a healthier and more prosperous Islington achieved by more participation in physical activity and cultural activities, more young people in education or training and more adults in work.”
