This introduction course will give the students a solid grounding in this industry standard editing software. We will be using Final Cut 7. This is a practical course with students working with video on individual Macs. By the end of the training the students will be able to:

• Understand editing concepts and digital video formats
• Set up FCP and connect cameras, tape decks and hard drives
• Log and capture video
• Understand timecode and device control
• 3 point editing and insert and overwrite edits
• Editing in the timeline
• Basic transitions and effects
• Mastering and output to tape
