Reel Islington Short Film Award: Call for Submissions

Reel Islington are launching a Short Film Award as part of the Reel Islington Film Festival 2012, which will take place 24 – 26 February 2012, on the theme of ‘We the People’. The festival will showcase the work of both established and up-and-coming filmmakers and include workshops and talks led by industry professionals.
Submissions are invited from filmmakers of all ages who live, work or study in Islington and the films should be connected to the theme ‘We the People’ – films of any genre and format (animation, documentary etc.) are welcome. The winning filmmaker will receive an award of £200 and their film will be screened at the festival on Saturday 25 February.

Confirmed judges include:

• Dan Borgonon – Programme Executive for Feature Films at Channel
4 and More 4
• Petra Fried – Head of Drama at Clerkenwell Films and Executive
Producer of the E4 series ‘Misfits’
• Adam Roberts – Filmmaker and long-standing adviser to Film4.

The Rules:
? The deadline for entries is midnight on 31 January 2012
? Films of up to 10 minutes in length will be accepted
? Entries should be submitted in one of the following formats: Blu-ray
disc (BD-ROM, BD-R/RE), PAL DVD, DVD-Video (DVD-R, DVD-R
DL, DVD-RW)
? Please ensure that all films are complete and working before
submitting
? Regrettably, we cannot return any of the DVDs submitted
? Submissions are invited from individuals or from
groups/collaborations
? Entries are open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Islington
? Films in languages other than English are welcome and should be
subtitled in English
? The filmmaker(s) must secure all copyright clearances where
applicable and Reel Islington will hold no responsibility for any
copyright infringement
? All decisions are decided by the festival jury alone and are final
